More than 20 years after his 2004 debut album Beautiful Soul, Jesse McCartney still radiates the same star power that made a generation fall in love with him. Millennials and Gen Z alike gathered at The Union for the Weightless Tour—McCartney’s return to Salt Lake City—and the room buzzed with a touch of nostalgia and a present-day talent that brings the audience a fresh perspective with every performance.

The throwback energy hit hard. As She’s No You filled the venue, the reminiscence of Disney Channel radio days paired with 2004 pop bliss was ever-present. The night was packed with radio favorites like Leavin', Body Language, It’s Over, and, of course, Beautiful Soul. Jesse McCartney isn’t just an artist; he’s a core memory that is now being passed along and shared with a younger audience.
What’s striking is how seamlessly he bridges that teenage-dream era with the present. His vocals remain remarkably steady, perfectly suited to the pop genre with a special touch of soul. What truly stood out was his ability to glide between moods. One minute, he has the room completely lifted with upbeat, dance-ready hits; the next, he’s settled into a ballad that could summon tears. The range of buoyant energy, vulnerability, and confidence mixed with notable humility is what makes Jesse McCartney an all-around showman.
It’s always a treat to hear Jesse McCartney talk about one of his most iconic songs, Bleeding Love, made famous by Leona Lewis. The pop hit was originally written by McCartney for his Beautiful Soul album. Although it didn’t make the final tracklist, it went on to become a massive success — and a defining moment in his career.
One of the night’s standout moments was when a fan joined McCartney onstage as he sang Party For Two, evoking smiles from ear to ear. McCartney shared insights into a joyful new chapter of his life with his wife and baby boy, tying into his latest single, Weightless. After a turbulent period in his life, the song captures the emotional release and renewed lightness he carries now - filled with joy, gratitude, and a deep appreciation for the fans who have made his career
flourish.
